Linux adoption: Obscured by the clouds?

It seems to me that these days the Linux operating system is everywhere and nowhere - it's all about "cloud computing" these days. Some old-fashioned folks would call this "grid computing," but grid computing implies parallel computing to eithe solve scalability problems or create high-performance supercomputer clusters.

No, what we're talking about is software as a service, and Linux remains at the forefront, but somewhat obscured by the clouds, to make a rather oblique Pink Floyd reference.

Let me know what you think.
